Both Adam A7X and Adam A8X are very popular two-way powered speakers on the market. Both models have satisfied and are loved by many users. They are both generally praised for being able to deliver exceptional low-end frequencies, at the same time providing clean midrange and treble as well. Both Adam A7X and Adam A8X make excellent choices for professional monitoring purposes. However, Adam A8X is usually a little bit more expensive than Adam A7X. So, which model should you choose?
Coming from the same series, Adam A7X and Adam A8X share many visible similarities. The overall layouts are indeed identical. Both models have been constructed from similar materials, featuring the highly durable carbon fiber drivers and the powerful, highly efficient X-ART tweeters. However, Adam A8X is a thud larger and bulkier than Adam A7X. It is also a little bit heavier. This is because Adam A8X is packed with a very large 8.5” woofer, whereas Adam A7X comes with a slightly smaller 7” woofer. So, if compactness and portability are very important to you, Adam A7X is perhaps a more convenient choice than Adam A8X. Both models come with XLR and RCA inputs.
Adam A7X has been greatly praised by the users because of its exceptional performance and quality on the entire frequency response range. With a frequency response range of 42 Hz – 50 kHz, it is able to deliver deep and accurate bass. The bass is not separated too far away from the midrange and treble, making the whole audio reproduction intact and realistic. It also has an excellent maximum SPL handling of 106 dB, which allows the speaker to deliver high volume levels properly without breaking the audio quality. It is an excellent solution for near-field monitoring in medium to large rooms.
On the other hand, Adam A8X is notably famous for its superior bass performance. It comes with a frequency response range of 38 Hz – 50 kHz and a maximum SPL handling of 112 dB. As you can see, it is capable of reaching considerably lower frequencies. The bass is much more defined. However, it is more suitable for use in a large treated room, because otherwise the bass can be a little bit too powerful and muffle the mids and highs. Its capability to deliver louder volume levels also makes it well-suited for larger rooms.
