Apogee Duet connects to the computer through a USB connection. There are two analog inputs with selectable 48V phantom power for connecting mics, instruments, or line-level devices. The preamps are definitely of high-quality, as they are able to capture the sounds with very good accuracy and clarity. There are also four analog outputs, which include two balanced mono outs and a stereo headphone out.
Apogee Groove is a simple USB interface that can work with Mac and Windows platforms. Note that it is USB-powered, so it will drain the power from the device it is connected to. The power consumption is not significant for a desktop computer or laptop, but this model can’t be used with an iPad or iPhone.

Apogee Groove and Apogee Duet are meant for different purposes. If you only need an audio interface for listening to music or watching movies, Apogee Groove makes the best way to go. It is simple, portable, and the sound quality is excellent. However, for recording purposes, Apogee Duet should be your choice.
