Behringer UM2 Vs UMC22

Basically, the two products share quite a lot of similarities. Anyhow, the designs are indeed quite different. Behringer UM2 is stated as a mini desktop audio interface, while Behringer UMC22 is classified as a mini rack audio interface. Behringer UM2 is relatively more compact and portable than Behringer UMC22. Tough thicker, it is smaller to the sides and quite noticeably lighter, too. One primary factor of such differences is because Behringer UM2 uses a plastic material for its body while Behringer UMC22 features a metal body chassis. Indeed, as the effect, Behringer UMC22 is more likely to be able to endure some abuses in real-life usage. Each model has three control knobs (two input gain controls and one output volume control), but Behringer UM2 has them on the top while Behringer UMC22 has them on the front.

Both models are 2×2 in/out USB audio interface. The inputs are identical. Each of them has one mic/line XLR combo input and one instrument ¼” input jack. Both models can provide 48V phantom power for the inputs. However, they feature different outputs. Behringer UM2 offers two RCA output jacks with a phones output for direct monitoring. On the other hand, Behringer UMC22 has two ¼” TRS output jacks, also with a phones output for direct monitoring. Depending on your necessities, you may prefer one type of output over the other. In general, the two are more-or-less similar in quality, though RCA may have some humming when plugging and unplugging. Also, RCA is adequate for short distances only (under 20 feet). TRS is more stable for long distances and usually don’t hum.
