Design
If you put the two speakers next to each other, you can then notice that JBL PRX712 is a little bit bulkier than QSC K12. It is also a little bit heavier. However, the differences are very marginal, not very significant. They are just as big as what you would expect from two-way powered speakers. Their construction materials, instead, are more important. QSC K12’s housing is made of the rugged and lightweight ABS enclosures. Such material is known for the affordability and superior durability. However, ABS enclosures usually don’t sound as great as the wooden counterparts. On the other hand, JBL PRX712’s cabinets are made from a combination of 18mm and 25mm plywood. Although wooden materials generally have superior tonal qualities, wooden materials are more prone to damage. To add some durability, the manufacturer has applied the DuraFlex finish on the surface.

Performance
Due to the wooden construction, JBL PRX712 is capable of delivering louder and fuller sounds. Not that QSC K12 is bad, not at all; in fact, it already has exceptional DSP quality that makes every low, mid, and high as accurate and articulate as possible. It has excellent clarity. However, JBL PRX712 has proven to be able to deliver louder volume levels. The peak SPL handling is slightly higher. It can project loud, full, and solid audio signals. JBL PRX712 also has a wider frequency response range that allows it to reach lower and higher frequencies for better sound staging.

Features
Both models come with built-in EQ controls. However, QSC K12 has one special feature of an onboard mixer with a high-pass filter. With QSC K12, you will be able to handle multiple inputs easily without having to use a separate mixer.
