In terms of design, QSC KSub and QSC KW181 are quite different from each other. With dimensions of 26” x 14” x 28.1”, QSC KSub is slimmer but taller compared to QSC KW181. This is because it incorporates a pair of 12” LF transducer cones. It weighs by about 74 lbs. On the other hand, comes with just a single 18” LF transducer cone. Measuring by 20.1” x 23.4” x 29.9”, QSC KW181 is relatively more compact in size than QSC KSub. Even so, you should also note that QSC KW181 is considerably heavier with a body mass of 88 lbs.

Since QSC KSub comes with two built-in woofers, we may assume that it packs a lot of power. However, each of the woofers actually has 500 Watts power, so the total is 1000 Watts, which is the same as QSC KW181’s power output. In fact, QSC KSub only has 130 dB maximum SPL handling, whereas QSC KW181 has 135 dB. So, QSC KW181 is actually able to project sounds at higher volume levels with better quality.

QSC KSub comes with a frequency response range of 48 Hz – 148 Hz. It has good bass performance, but nothing is really astonishing here. On the other hand, QSC KW181 offers a frequency response range of 38 Hz – 124 Hz. As you can see, it is able to reach lower frequencies. The lowest two octaves are defined more fully and properly. As the effect, the bass performance is much better. It delivers full, solid, and accurate lows. It makes an excellent choice for reinforcing instruments that deliver bass, as the audio reproduction is more accurate and detailed.

Between these two models, QSC KW181 makes the best way to go. It is more powerful and able to deliver better, fuller, and more accurate bass.
