This vocal condenser microphone brings several features to make your vocal recording easier and producing high quality sound. It has large capsule with gold plated diaphragm, “transformer-less” surface mount circuitry, cardioids polar pattern, ultra low noise, and wide dynamic range with 5dB only self noise. It is also completed with internal capsule shock mounting and gold plated output contact. It requires 48V phantom power. The anniversary model includes premium shock mount with integrated pop filter, high quality XLR cable, and dust cover. It’s surprisingly great quality with such cheap price. It produces warm, clear, and crisp sound.
Another Rode’s vocal condenser microphone series is the NT2A. Different from the strict cardioids NT1A, the NT2A has three position variable polar patterns: the omni, cardioids, and figure 8 which are all controlled on the mic. Along with that, it also completed with three position variable high-pass filter: the flat, 40Hz, and 80Hz. Of course, there are also three position variable pad: 0Db, -5dB, and -10dB. Comparing and the Result
Both the specs and price, NT1A and NT2A are close. If you need a condenser microphone for multiple purposes, then the NT2A might be the right one for you. However, for vocal recording, I personally recommend the NT1A in Rode NT1A vs NT2A since it is vocal recording specialized. With such cheap price, you can get supreme quality sound. Make sure you also use a good preamp for warmer and more pristine sound.
