Steinberg UR242 and Steinberg UR22 are available in a similar price range; Steinberg UR242 is usually a little bit more expensive than Steinberg UR22, but the price step-up is not exactly huge. Power and Connectivity
Even though both Steinberg UR242 and Steinberg UR22 come in the premium-looking, ultra-rugged metal casing, and both models connect to your computer via USB, you need to be aware that they work a little bit differently from each other. First, Steinberg UR242 is not USB-powered. It needs a power outlet and a power adapter to work. This may not be very practical for mobility, but still pretty much workable. On the other hand, Steinberg UR22 is USB-powered, which means that the device takes power from your computer, allowing for easy usage as you work at different places.

In addition, Steinberg UR242 also comes with more input ports than Steinberg UR22. Steinberg UR22 has two combo input ports equipped with Class-A D-PRE mic preamps for the best audio quality, and two TRS analog outputs. Meanwhile, Steinberg UR242 provides a total of four input ports, consisting of two combo inputs with Class-A D-PRE mic preamps and two TRS inputs, plus two TRS analog outputs. DSP Features
Steinberg UR22 is pretty much a simple and straightforward audio interface. It gets the job done, but is not exactly very feature-packed. Steinberg UR242 comes with a high-pass filter, which is very handy for boosting the presence of vocals in the mix. It also allows phase switching for each channel. In addition, Steinberg UR242 also comes with the Sweet Spot Morphing Channel Strip, REV-X Reverb, and Guitar Amp Classics. Last but not least, Steinberg UR242 also provides latency-free monitoring with FX through dspMixFx and true integrated monitoring with FX in Cubase.

Steinberg UR242 is generally the best way to go. It has more input ports and comes with a very handy FX suite. However, if the 2-in/2-out configuration is sufficient for you and you need a USB-powered model, then Steinberg UR22 should be your choice.
