Tascam DP-006 comes with two built-in omnidirectional condenser mics, which are very handy if your external mics get into a problem, and the sensitivity of the mics can be adjusted as well into one of the three levels: low, mid, and high. It comes with two TRS ¼” line inputs and a 15mW/ch headphone output. You can manage each track separately and independently, as each track is given each own balance knobs. Tascam DP-008 is slightly more expensive than Tascam DP-006, yet it comes with more punches! Tascam DP-008 boasts 8 total tracks (hence the name), also with two-track simultaneous recording capability. It comes with two XLR inputs with phantom power, two ¼” line inputs, RCA line outputs, and 1/8” stereo headphone output. Quite similarly, it features separate and individual controls for each track, with level, pan, and 2-band EQ for each channel. It comes with built-in chromatic tuner and metronome, stereo reverb effects, also various editing functions. It works with an SD or SDHC memory card up to 32 GB; a 2 GB card included.

In general, Tascam DP-008 makes the best choice here because it has more tracks and more ports, that are very beneficial if you ever need to handle a lot of tracks and various inputs. But, if you are certain that you will not need the extra tracks and channels, you can save some money by going with Tascam DP-006. Better be prepared than not, though!
